SurfBabies & SurfKids

Our children’s beach safety programs help families stay safe around the water, teaching essential skills through fun activities. They’re also a great place to make new friends!
FOR CHILDREN AGED 2 – 7

Learn beach safety through play

Every session runs for 30 minutes in the shallows with a qualified Surf Life Saving WA instructor. Parents get in the water alongside their child, helping build the confidence and skills to safely help them.

Through games and simple activities, children learn how to enter and exit the water safely, how to spot a lifesaver and the red and yellow flags, and what to do if they need help. Levels build as they grow, from first steps in ankle deep water at SurfBabies through to wading, floating and basic surf awareness at SurfKids.

It is a relaxed, friendly way to build water confidence early, and most families come back season after season.

SURFBABIES & SURFKIDS
Build Beach Confidence from the Start
With programs commencing in October and January, our SurfBabies and SurfKids programs are designed for children aged 2 to 7 and their parents. Held at ten metropolitan and regional beaches across WA, these six-week courses take place on Saturday mornings and aim to familiarise children with the beach and ocean environment. Parent participation is a must!

Delivered by Surf Life Saving WA

SurfBabies and SurfKids are run by Surf Life Saving WA, the organisation behind beach patrols, Woodside Nippers and surf education across the state. Sessions are delivered by trained instructors and supported by our volunteer surf life saving clubs at ten metropolitan and regional beaches. Each six week course is $117 per child and includes all equipment. Spots fill quickly once bookings open, so we recommend enrolling early.
