Awards of Excellence

Held annually in June, the Surf Life Saving WA Awards of Excellence recognise the achievements and contributions of members and clubs across a range of categories and areas of surf life saving, including lifesaving, surf sports,  training and education, and community service.

Each year, a Circular is released to the membership providing information about award categories and how to enter, with category winners announced at the annual Awards of Excellence gala dinner.

Category winners from the WA awards then go on to represent WA at the Surf Life Saving Australian Awards of Excellence held annually in November.

The WA Surf Lifesavers 25 Year Club came into being in 1972 with the late Bill Kidner being the enthusiastic catalyst behind its formation.

The inaugural meeting took place at the North Cottesloe Surf Lifesaving Club on Wednesday 27th September 1972. It is unique to WA so far, with no other club like it in Australia’s Surf Life Saving circles.

The Club, open to all members who have received the SLSA 25 Year Service Award or above or have completed at least 25 years of service with their club, holds various social events throughout the year, promoting comradery and helping to relive the great years of friendship and fellowship.
