2010 STATE TRAINER & ASSESSOR CONFERENCE

The 2010 State Trainer & Assessor Conference will take place over 2 half days in September.

The conference will bring together almost 150 Trainers and Assessors from across the State

This will provide the opportunity for SLSWA education personnel to be informed of Training & Assessing reporting requirements, information regarding the TAE Units of Competency and participate in creating delivery standards for WA presented courses plus much more...

Dates:

• Saturday 11th September

• Sunday 12th September

Venue: Scarboro Surf Club

TRAINING OFFICER COURSE

 Date/Times:

• Saturday 20th November - 9.00am to 4.00pm

• Saturday 27th November - 9.00am to 4.00pm

Location: SLSWA Balcatta Training Centre

Prerequisites:

• Minimum 17 years of age

• Hold the SLSA award that you intend to assess

Enrolment:

Nominations close on 13th October 2010. Complete the nomination form (attached below - Circular 2010 - Training Officer Course) and submit through your Surf Club - all nominations must be endorsed by the Surf Club

ASSESSOR CERTIFICATE COURSE

NOMINATIONS HAVE BEEN EXTENDED TO 8TH SEPTEMBER

Date/Times:

• Sunday 3rd October - 9.00am to 4.00pm

• Sunday 10th October - 9.00am to 4.00pm

Location: SLSWA Balcatta Training Centre

Prerequisites:

• Minimum 18 years of age

• Hold the SLSA award that you intend to assess

Preferred:

• Current knowledge of the Vocational Education system

• Current knowledge of Training and/or Assessing within the surf environment

• Training Officer qualifications including TAADEL301C Provide Training Through Instruction & Demonstration

Enrolment: Nominations close on 1st September 2010. Complete the nomination form (attached below - Circular 2010 - Assessor Course) and submit through your Surf Club - all nominations must be endorsed by the Surf Club

BASIC BEACH MANAGEMENT (PATROL CAPTAIN) - SILVER MEDALLION

NOMINATIONS HAVE NOW CLOSED

(the full day must be attended to complete the course)

Date: Saturday 18th September

Time: 8.30am - 4.00pm

Venue: Mullaloo Surf Life Saving Club - Members' Lounge

IRB Practical Driver Assessment

SLSWA has scheduled the following IRB Practical Driver Assessment opportunities over the coming months.

Dates:

• 8.00am Sunday  -  3rd October  - Scarboro SLSC

• 8.00am Saturday - 23rd October - Scarboro SLSC

• 7.30am Saturday - 6th November - Scarboro SLSC

Enrolment:

• Assessment Request to be lodged on SurfGuard at least 7 days prior to the exam date

• Club to confirm candidates with John King at SLSWA via email - jking@mybeach.com.au or phone - 9243 9444 at least 7 days prior to the exam date

• Drivers MUST have IRB Crew Award completed and lodged in SurfGuard

• Drivers MUST have a minimum of 10 hours of Crew experience

Assessors: IRB Assessors are required for the above dates and throughout the "off season". Any IRB Assesssor who is able to help with assessments and wishes to remain current are requested to contact John King via email - jking@mybeach.com.au
