The Mandurah Surf Life Saving Club is a fast growing community hub looking after the Mandurah population and the thousands of visitors who flock to the pristine San Remo beach each year. Formed in 1996, Mandurah SLSC has since that time grown to become a crucial part of Surf Life Saving Western Australia’s strategic direction to ensure a strong system of sustainable clubs along the populated WA coastline.
Mandurah SLSC enjoys a healthy and growing membership across a range of age demographics including the Nipper age group (6 to 14 years) and upwards. Mandurah SLSC, despite having been established 14 years ago has operated without club room facilities since formation. Mandurah SLSC has spent several years implementing plans to develop permanent club rooms at San Remo beach and thus enhance and ensure the ongoing sustainability of the club in years to come.
Mandurah SLSC has already obtained significant funding through Lotterywest and CSRFF grants. To ensure that permanent club rooms can be built further funding is urgently required. The club has applied for Federal funding for the project from the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program. Over $1 million is still required to build these facilities and application has been made for this amount. This funding is crucial to Mandurah SLSC’s ability to build their new community facility.
Mandurah SLSC receives very strong support from the City of Mandurah and this funding application is vital to ensure the ongoing development and provision of surf life saving services in the rapidly growing Mandurah region.
Surf Life Saving Western Australia has identified through its Strategic Management Planning that a facility is required at this location to ensure the ongoing provision of surf life saving services and therefore SLSWA is supporting and assisting Mandurah SLSC in this funding application and in the development of this long awaited and much needed facility.
