One Week to go in the SLSWA Club Blood Donation Challenge

We all save lives on the beaches, but now is the time to roll up our sleeves and save lives in a different way… by donating blood.

On 1 December, Surf Life Saving WA commenced an inter-club challenge to support the Australian Red Cross Blood Service. This challenge is your club’s opportunity to compete against fellow surf lifesavers, to see who can save the most lives – through blood donation.

The Blood Service has put out a call to Surf Life Saving WA for support with this during January and February. The festive season has lowered blood stocks in WA and they need our help to boost it back up and meet hospital demand.

Get behind your Club!

There is only one week left of the 2009/2010 Surf Life Saving WA Blood Donation Challenge, so it’s time to really get behind your Club. Why not show the others who’s Club is best, by beating them in the blood donation stakes. Imagine how many lives your Club can save.

Western Australia needs 3,000 donations each week to help people with cancer, heart disease patients, those undergoing surgery, premature babies and mums-to-be. So be a sport and be the type to save lives this summer.

We are currently short on our challenge target and we need all clubs to jump on deck, to help the Blood Service save lives. At the moment, we are 91 donations down, so we are asking all Clubs to find at least 4 members to donate blood before the end of February.

The City of Perth SLSC is still in the lead, however, the Swanbourne, Nedlands, Fremantle, Sorrento, North Cottesloe and Mullaloo SLS Clubs are sitting close behind. So it’s still anyone’s game.
